Team Spudnik Meeting 1/21/13
First off, I apologize for the sporadic updates of the blog. Second of all, I am now updating the blog! This Monday, things were accomplished. What exactly, do you ask? Well, a couple things. We decided to add an additional meeting at 9:00 AM so that we could get more done. Over our two meetings that day, a large amount of work was done on the robot. As of now, the wheelbase is complete and wired up. The program for controlling the robot is nearly complete too, and we will shortly be mobile. In addition, the team working on a frisbee shooter is making progress. Soon, we'll be ready to commence winning!
Last but not least, our awesome website guy made a couple small changes to the site (look at that logo on the right. Amazing, isn't it). He also made a rough draft of our team banner, which will be put up on here as soon as it's finalized. It'll be purty :)
So there you are. I'm typing this up at our meeting today (Wednesday), so expect another post today or tomorrow. TTFN, ta-ta for now!

Survey Reminder
Just a reminder to all team members to take the survey so we can publish the results. Also so we can kill the link before a bunch of random people start sending in fake answers (Editor's note: By "people", Seamus means himself. Just FYI). Please be speedy!

Team Spudnik Meeting - 1/14/13
Hello! Here's another meeting update for y'all.
This meeting, the biggest thing that was accomplished was the budget. We've finished a first draft of our complete budget as of now. So we should be prepared to spend our money effectively, and not spend dollars we don't have (Deficits are bad. See any newspaper in the US to find out why). In addition, the build team is ready to begin the construction of our robot, and a couple of small updates have been made by everyone's favorite web guy (that is to say, me). Last but not least, the marketing team has been busy, netting us more sponsors, with even more available.
So there you go. Planning mostly done, plenty of sponsors gotten, Team Spudnik is ready to roll!

Team Spudnik Meeting - 1/9/13
At this meeting, we were joined by Mr Rood, an auto and engineering teacher at MHS. We were trying to decide whether to make a robot to climb the ladder, or one to shoot frisbees, and we wanted his input as an experienced engineer. However, Tyler, one of our members, proposed a new design. Below is a rough sketch of the design, nicknamed "Oliver".
Essentially, this design is a robot with a bucket for dumping frisbees into the low-point goal. It also can be outfitted with hooks for climbing up the ladder at the end. We decided to start with the "Oliver" base, and experiment with shooters or additional climbing attachments to add to it. All in all, it was a good meeting, and we now officially have our game plan! Let's do this!

First Robotics Kickoff!
Tomorrow (Saturday, January 5th), the team's heading out to the FRC kickoff even at NDSU (North Dakota State University). We're going to get the challenges for this year, do some workshops to increase our levels of knowledge, and do generally awesome robot-y things. Should be a lot of fun! If you're on another FRC team, we hope to see you there. If not, we'll love to tell you about it if you join our team :)
